St. Kitts is one of the most beautiful islands in the Eastern Caribbean, with its distinctly unique blend of tranquility, friendly people and interesting history.
The population of St. Kitts is approximately 40,000, with a land area of 65 square miles, with pleasant tropical temperatures ranging from 17 to 33 degrees Celsius. English is the official language, but is spoken with a distinct accent.
Direct Charter Flights are available from the UK, USA and Canada. Same Day Connections can be made from Puerto Rico, Antigua, St. Maarten, Guadeloupe and Barbados using regional carriers such as LIAT, Win Air, Caribbean Star, and American Eagle.
Visitors are required to bring either a valid passport or a birth certificate. Departure taxes are $22US payable in cash.
The currency is East Caribbean Dollars, commonly called EC. The exchange rate is fixed to the U.S at $2.7EC = $1 U.S. Local businesses will accept U.S currency, but will give back change in ECdollars.
Driving is on the left side, and rental cars are available from several rental agencies. A visitor driver's licence costs $62.50EC and can be obtained at any police station or car rental agency.
ATMs are available at most banking locations, and accept all Cirrus and Plus credit and debit cards. Most hotels, restaurants, and larger stores accept credit cards. The most widely accepted cards are Visa and MasterCard.
Comfortable summer clothing is suggested, but winter evenings can be quite cool and cardigans, jackets, and shawls are recommended.
